60 pupils from Queen Elizabeth School can't contain their excitement as the end of term approaches....not only because there's "no more school" but more importantly they have been chosen to go on a trip of a lifetime!
The girls and boys representing the QES Rugby, Football, Hockey and Netball teams will travel up the East coast of Australia for 3 weeks in the summer and this tour will be the largest touring party the school, which is based in Kirkby Lonsdale, has ever taken.
On Saturday our Kukri Ambassador, Brian Ashton MBE and his gorgeous wife, Helen, went along to the Tour Fundraiser which was held at Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club. Brian spoke at the event to help raise funds for the tour.
Brian said: "I really enjoyed a fantastic evening at Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby club last Saturday. We also had the pleasure of the company of ex England International and British Lion Wayde Dooley with whom I had the dubious pleasure of playing with when he was a youngster! The real privilege of coaching came when he became one of the top second row forwards ever produced by England.
Helen and I were extremely well looked after and were pleased to be able to contribute to what appeared to be a successful event. I am sure that the school teams touring will do QES Kirkby Lonsdale proud in their touring Kukri kit !"
Have fun on tour guys!
